Easy, Delicious Peppermint Bark
The Perfect Holiday Dessert!

Summer or Winter ~ Peppermint Bark Is Always Good

by Karen Ekstrom

With the holiday coming up, family coming in town yet again and busy schedules the next few weeks I decided to share something very easy with few ingredients but something that your family and friends will love! The aroma of the melting chocolate and crushed peppermint fill the kitchen and get your tastebuds ready. Within a short 40 minutes you have a dessert that can be shared with anybody, but then again you might want to just keep it for yourself since it’s so delicious.

Give this peppermint bark to friends, family, teachers, or neighbors and they might be asking you for this recipe for them to share for next year!

Peppermint Bark

1 bag of chocolate chips
1 bag of white chocolate chips
Package of candy canes

Chips

1: Place a piece of parchment paper in a 9×13 pan

2: Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl (cooking in 30 second increments and stirring between each melting session)

3: Once the chocolate is melted pour it evenly into the parchment paper lined pan

4: Place in freezer for 20 minutes

5: While the chocolate is freezing take another bowl with the white chocolate chips and melt them for 30 seconds at a time, stirring between each time. (If white chocolate becomes crumbly and doesn’t melt evenly, pour a tablespoon of vegetable oil into chocolate)

6: When the time is up take the chocolate pan out and pour the white chocolate evenly on top.

7: Place candy canes in a plastic bag, using a pin roller or wooden mallet crush up the candy canes into small irregular pieces.

8: Sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top of the white chocolate and with a spachula press lightly on the candy to keep them in place on the chocolate.

9: Place in freezer for another 20 minutes
