Sheila Reynolds
Finding Family Everywhere!

by Karen Ekstrom
I went to take pictures of her piano. To oooh and ahhh. To hear it’s wonderful story. And I did. But I walked away with a different story. A story about family.

You see, the amazing thing about Sheila Reynolds is the warmth she exudes. Her shy, welcoming smile, when I’ve known her for 20-something years and know she can’t be shy. She’s involved in everything. Knows everybody. And is beloved by everyone.

Maybe, the secret of who she is comes from the story of the piano. Her Dad, who was not her biological father, taught her to play. Taught her that family is not just about blood; it can also be about loving someone so much that they become family. Since that time, Sheila has acquired family from all sorts of places. She just gently scoops people up, and adds them to her family.

So, I tried to take a picture of her piano but couldn’t. I photographed her family instead.
