When A Kid Says Something Brilliant…
I Call It “The Quote of the Day”
Situation: Barrett, age 9, and I are driving home from school.
“Grandma, I did great on my math test today,” Barrett bragged.
“Wow! That’s wonderful!” I exclaimed. “You know, you inherited those great math genes from your Dad. He’s a really good at math.”
“Yea.” Barrett puffed up even bigger. “My Dad’s really smart!”
“Smart like you.” I gushed and goo-ed and went on for a while.
Then, I asked, “Have you ever thought about what you want to be when you grow up?”
“No.” Barrett’s little forehead scrunched up. Then, he brightened. “But I do know that I want to get married and have a family. So they can love me and I get to love them. And, we’ll all love each other. And, it will be really great.”
He paused for a second or so, then added, “Yea, I really want a family of my own ’cause I really like being loved!”
(Aren’t Grandkids are the greatest!!!!)
